Teacher Representative Election
Special Sector
Vote for
Barbara Robinson
I started teaching in Suffolk in 1973 and always had an interest in SEN. I have worked mostly in the secondary sector, but taught English at Stoke-by-Nayland Middle, Art & Design at Nacton Heath and Copleston from 1974 to 1984, including experience in an ASC. I have attended courses on Primary SEN, taught on supply at Thomas Wolsey Special and as a volunteer in a Primary school. I have taught at Parkside PRU since 1992.
My thesis for a BA (Hons) degree course with APU was on Art and Special Needs. I am studying for an MA, currently completing a module on Managing Pupil Behaviour. Another areas of interest is ICT, eg, Open Source Software.
My son has special needs, with on-going health problems. He receives part-time schooling is being tutored at home. I am a member of the NUT and take an active interest in national and local educational developments.
The challenge of "inclusive education" will need careful managing and proper resourcing. I have the width of experience and commitment to a range of mainstream and specialist provision which the variety of SEN staff need to have in a representative serving on the SCC Scrutiny committee.
Those able to vote for Barbara Robinson are all full or part-time teachers working in a Special School, PRU, ASC, or Special Unit and Advisory Teachers for learning support.
