A Unitary Ipswich?

Ipswich Borough Council is bidding to become a unitary council.  This will have a profound impact on our schools and on members of staff in our schools.

• The NUT's initial stance was given in a newsletter FAXed to schools in April 2007.
• Suffolk NUT then wrote to Ipswich Borough Council with a range of detailed questions on their plans for Education.
• Ipswich BC's responses were rather vague and could be summed up as "wait and see" but "trust us".  Copies are being distributed to Reps and Headteachers in the Ipswich area.  Also a press release.
• Consultation with NUT members began with a meeting at Northgate High School on 15th May.
