6 Term Year?

Suffolk LEA is consulting schools on the following proposals for a change to a six-term year. It is basically the same as the present three-term year with some "half-term" holidays extended. 2003 - 2004 would be a transition year, the shorter summer holiday starting in 2004. Terms will be of a more regular length and some "half-term" holidays will be extended. Most of the pay-back is deleted from the Summer Holiday. From 2004 onwards, the Autumn Terms will start in August. Proposed term dates are:

* The five PD (non-pupil days) days are not included in the above dates for 2004-05. The only way would be to eat into the holidays. This could lead to very short Christmas or Easter breaks or starting even earlier in August.
